Search Options
There are 3 search options provided for searching the on-line repository information as follows. Examples of the results format are given below.
The Basic search option is more suitable for searches producing a large number of results, with details of each result shown on a single line.
The Advanced and Filtered search options provide more information with an in-line photograph in table format and are more suitable for finer searches.
The search options provide character string matching with 3 options - the field contains the specified characters, begins with the specified characters and contains exactly the specified characters.
Note that the format of the OS Grid Reference field is the OS prefix, Easting and Northing packed together without spaces. As grid references in the repository database vary between 2, 3, 4 and 5 figures and some references may not be accurate even to 3 figures, it is recommended that search strings for the Grid Reference field should have the format OS Prefix followed by a 2 digit Easting, e.g. NX18.
